Getting Over A Relationship And Learning To Fly Solo Again

In getting over a relationship, make sure you give yourself time to get over the breakup. Sometimes, the first impulse is to get involved with someone else right away; however, this is not recommended. It isn’t fair to you or your new partner for you to jump into a “rebound” relationship. While it is natural to want to feel attractive and desirable, you need to give yourself time to get over your old flame before stoking a new fire. When you take the time to thoroughly process the breakup and move on, your next relationship will be much stronger because of the lessons you learned from the previous one.

Make moving on your ultimate goal in the process. Even while you are dealing with the raw emotions that come immediately after a breakup, picture yourself down the road as a wonderful, independent person who is stronger because of the conflict rather than one who was defeated by it.

To help you with getting over a relationship, keep a list of affirmations or positive quotes around you all day. When you do start feeling depressed or down, take out a pen and piece of paper and make a list of all your positive attributes. List your accomplishments, what you are good at, and the things you like to do.

Go out with friends and family – this helps with getting over a relationship, too. Just because you aren’t part of a couple anymore doesn’t mean you have to sit at home. Isolating yourself is not going to help in getting over a relationship. At first, go to some new places that don’t have any memories of you and your ex. Remember, you are single again, so you can do what YOU want.

Getting over a relationship can be a hard process; however, it is not impossible. With a little help from family and friends, you can learn to not only fly solo again after a relationship ends, you can learn how to reach even greater heights. Happy flying.
