Getting Over A Relationship And Learning To Fly Solo Again

When a relationship ends, you may be filled with a great deal of uncertainty, anxiety and fear. You don’t know what’s going to happen next and you worry that you won’t be able to get by with this piece of your life that is now missing.

However, there are some things you can do that will help in getting over a relationship. You can learn to spread your wings and fly solo again.

First tip for getting over a relationship, is not to hold your feelings in. When we bottle up our emotions, we are denying that we have certain feelings. Feeling upset, hurt or angry after a breakup is normal. When we bottle up the emotions, we run the risk of them coming out in very unhealthy ways.

Talk to friends and family about how you feel. Let them know that you are hurt or upset. Talk to the person you were in the relationship with as well and let that person know how this is making you feel. If you don’t want to talk to that person face to face, write him or her a letter.

Another tip for getting over a relationship is to keep a journal of your feelings. Sometimes, there are things you feel you just cannot tell your friends and family for fear of how they will react. This is where a journal can be your best friend. You can write anything in your journal because the decision to share is yours and yours alone. Journals are a great way to examine the relationship, where it was going, and what led to the end. It’s a place you can examine yourself in a safe environment. Just be cautious that you are not overly critical of yourself in the journal. The purpose is for it to help you examine your emotions and feelings, not to put yourself down.
