Ways To Break Up In A Mature And Gracious Manner

Whichever ways to break up you are considering, try to be very honest with the person. Let the person know exactly why you want to break up. If you feel that you cannot express it verbally, write it down and give it to them. Honesty is the best way to go, and if it’s not working, it is better to end the relationship than to hold on pretending that everything is all right.

Allow your discussion to be as long as it needs to be. Don’t break up and rush off. Talk to each other and address the issues that were problems. Learn from them. Ask the person if they had any issues with you. Not every relationship is going to work out, but you can learn certain things from each one if you are willing to listen and work on areas that need work on. Perhaps you were blinded to certain flaws or faults that you had. Be humble enough to listen to the heart of the other person and receive what they are saying.

You can discuss with your future ex the way to move forward as well. Perhaps they will want to remain friends or perhaps they will want you to leave them alone. Ask your ex what he / she would prefer and honor their request.

Once the break up is complete, simply walk away and let your ex have some time to process things. Don’t text, call, or try to “be there” for him / her in any way. The time apart and distance will be hard on both of you, but it is necessary.

Breaking up is hard to do, so please be polite, direct, honest, and tactful when you feel the need to break up with someone. No one likes to be dumped, so whichever ways to break up you use, be respectful of the other person’s feelings.

Hopefully, the above tips and advice will give you some ideas on ways to break up in a gracious, amicable and mature manner.
