Ways To Break Up In A Mature And Gracious Manner

Are you looking for ways to break up in a mature, amicable, and gracious manner?

I’m reminded of a song lyric that says, “breaking up is hard to do”, and it’s true in most cases. Most people dread having to break a relationship; most of us have experienced both ends of a break up, and many tears have been shed as a result.

There are most certainly constructive ways to break up with another and that is what this article will focus on. Breaking up is already tough, so doing it in a mature, even caring way is the way to go.

A cardinal rule of breaking up is to do it face-to-face or at least over the telephone if you simply cannot face the person. It is important to give the person a chance to discuss things or ask questions. Some people like to do this in a public place, as the thought is that it may go smoother. You should be able to guess if breaking up in a public place is wise or not. If your partner is emotional or you think that tears may fall, you are wise to break up in a private place. You could go for a walk, or simply go to the person’s home if you prefer a non-public place.

When thinking about different ways to break up, one thing to note is not to break up with someone over email or texting. This is not respectful of the person and does not give them a chance to discuss things with you. Breaking up will not be easy, but at least give the other person the courtesy to discuss the break up with you face to face.
