Is It Time To Break Up And Go Your Separate Ways?

Do you find that you are arguing more? And the arguments are getting nasty? You used to have silly fights that ended with you both laughing and making up, but now the fights are more serious and end with bitter silences or recriminations. Is he verbally abusive? If he’s physically abusive towards you, then you absolutely, positively have to end the relationship. Now. It doesn’t matter how much in love you feel; this behavior is not going to change, and it’s time to break up.

Do you feel resentment towards him for something he said or did, and you can’t let it go? You need to sit down together and have a serious talk about your relationship to try to get back on track – to the way things used to be. Or try professional counseling. If neither of you is willing to do this, then it could be time to break up.

Are you keeping secrets from each other? Do you feel you can’t rely on him any more? Trust is the basis of every great relationship. If the trust has gone, then the relationship has probably run its course. If you’re not getting what you need from your relationship, then it’s time to break up. Why spend your time with someone you no longer trust or care about? Cut the ties and get on with your life.

Ending a relationship is difficult. As the song says, “Breaking up is hard to do.” It is hard, but you have to allow yourself some time to recover from the pain – try to remember the good times and leave the bad times behind. Don’t struggle along hoping that things will improve – it’s time to break up and move on with your life.
