Self Esteem Games – Fun Activities For Enhancing Self Respect

Play some dance music and form into two lines. Have each game participant take a turn at walking between the lines and receiving a hug, kiss, pat on the back, or a ‘high five’ from the others. This makes the participants feel accepted and well-liked, and will increase their level of self esteem.

A self esteem game that takes a little more work and preparation is a kind of dream game where each person tells the others of their ideal role in life – it could be a teacher, musician, actor or doctor – you get the idea. Then that person has to convince the others by citing all of the reasons why they would be great at performing their ideal role by delivering a speech or creating an advert or slogan.

This self esteem game should be played in a spirit of fun and not be taken too seriously, as most people with low self esteem find it difficult to market themselves by giving a speech. The rest of the group then has to discuss the presentation and vote on whether or not they think the person aspiring to their ideal role has the qualities to achieve it. It should be emphasized that the judges should be kind and not dismiss one another’s dreams out of hand, but rather offer suggestions as to how it can be achieved. The participants can also discuss how they felt about having to speak in a public forum about their aspirations.

Self esteem games can be a valuable tool towards building self esteem and also provide entertainment, a feeling of sharing self-doubts with others, and a realization that many other people feel the same way about themselves.
