Your Beliefs On Your Health Will Affect Your Health

Most of us know that your body becomes what you eat. After all, the body is made from building blocks provided by the food and drinks we consume. And then there is exercise, which has many proven health benefits.

Wayne Dyer, in his book “Being in Balance“, tells us that other than what we eat and how much we exercise, there is another very important factor which affects our health just as much – our beliefs. More specifically, our thoughts and beliefs about our health affect our health.

When you eat some sinful and unhealthy food, say a cup of chocolate ice cream, what thoughts go through your head? Are you feeling guilty that you are about to indulge in something unhealthy? Or are you filled will anticipation and happiness as you dig your teeth into your next treat?

Beliefs are thoughts, and thoughts are energy – your thoughts will attract into your life whatever you are thinking about. Thus, based on the Law of Attraction, should you believe that something you are about to consume will turn into unhealthy body cells which contribute to ill health, that is what will happen; on the flip side, if you believe that your body is able to turn any food source into healthy and happy bodily cells, then your body will respond accordingly.

In fact, he wants us to passionately believe that we will have a healthy body that feels great, as that mental energy will help this situation to manifest itself. Unfortunately, most of us are brainwashed by the mass media and commercialism culture of today, and every day, we are bombarded with how undesirable and terrible our bodies are and what we need to do (to buy!) to deal with it.

So, tell yourself that you are journeying toward perfect health. Tell yourself that you do not feel any guilt or shame for your eating and living habits. Tell yourself that you love your body as it is the only one that you will have, that it houses YOU and that you will endeavor to take good care of it.

And, you know what? According to Dyer, you will respond accordingly, and your eating and living habits WILL become healthier and more desirable.

In other words, Dyer is saying that you need to realign your thought patterns with your desire (and all of us have this desire) to be and to feel healthy, and you WILL be able to change the unhealthy habits that have been contributing to ill health. This, it seems, is a law of psychology.

Interesting school of thought, isn’t it?
