Using The Time Management Matrix To Plan Your Days And Prioritize Your Tasks

We’ve all been a place in our lives where we feel like there just isn’t enough time to do the things we need or want to do. We’ve all said, “There just aren’t enough hours in the day!”

However, there is enough time if we just learn to manage it better. How do you do this? You can learn to manage your time by utilizing the time management matrix to prioritize and plan your days.

At the beginning of your day, sit down and draw a grid similar to the one below.

Next, you will want to label your grid to show what is urgent or not urgent, important and not important. By looking at your daily tasks, you are able to prioritize them and get the most out of your hours each day. You can do this at work, at home, or with any project in which you have a timeline. Here is an example of the time management matrix grid with the quadrants labeled:

  URGENT NOT URGENT

Now, for each task, you will need to place them in the proper quadrant so you can accomplish all those tasks that are necessary during the day.
