I’m Really Bored! How Can I Dispel Boredom?

Do you have feelings of “I’m really bored”? Is boredom driving you crazy? Here are some suggestions to help you deal with boredom.

Boredom is fairly common with people of all ages, as it is quite easy to get bored. Doing the same things day after day, such as school, or work, can get boring. One of the major complaints of kids and teens is boredom. They just can’t think of something to do that seems like it would be fun.

Relieving boredom is not as difficult as some might think. There are plenty of activities one can do to relieve boredom. Depending on your interests and resources, you can find fun and exciting things to do in no time and dispel feelings of “I’m really bored”.

If you like to exercise or if you’ve wanted to get into shape, you can join a fitness club or begin an exercise routine by yourself or team up with a friend. Exercise releases endorphins, which are chemicals that naturally elevate one’s mood. You’ll not only be beating boredom, but you’ll also be gaining physical and mental benefits.

The next time you are feeling “I’m really bored”, you could beat boredom with all sorts of different hobbies as well. I’m sure there are some things that you’ve wanted to do for years but just haven’t had the time or initiative to do yet. There are plenty of art or music classes you could take. Learn how to paint, sculpt, act, play an instrument, or dance.

You can take up photography, landscaping, fishing, knitting, and woodworking. You can take continuing education courses at your local community college as well. They normally offer many courses, from construction courses to digital arts.

If you and your family find yourselves getting bored, you can make one night a week “family” night and go out and have some fun. Allot a certain amount of money to be spent and go enjoy an evening together. Some ideas are going to the movies, bowling, attending a concert, going to a sporting event, playing putt-putt, or going to the mall. You could also designate one evening a week to going out to dinner or inviting friends over for dinner. Throwing a party is always a boredom breaker as well.

When it comes to beating the “I’m really bored” vibes, the key is simply to think about what types of activities you enjoy and taking action. It’s easier to just be bored, so you’re going to have to force yourself to take some action. It may be easier to ask a friend or family member to help you get started in a hobby or come up with some ideas. There are also plenty of meet up or social groups in larger cities that you can get involved in. Check the internet or ask your friends and family for ways that they relieve their boredom and you’re sure to get some ideas.

If you are bored, take some time to make a list today of what makes you happy and what kinds of activities you’d like to try to relieve some of that boredom. You can even make a “bucket list”, which is a list that has all the activities that you’d like to achieve before you “kick the bucket”. Have fun with it and feel “I’m really bored” no more!
