How To Deal With Rejection And Draw Positives From It

Do you need some advice on how to deal with rejection, whether in relationships, at work or elsewhere?

Rejection is one of those unwanted experiences we have all gone through at one time or another in our lifetime. It is not pleasant – it stirs emotions we wish we didn’t have, and when our journey through it is over, we pray we never have to experience them again.

The first thing many of us want to do is hide away from the world – shut away in our room, hiding in the bottom of a bottle or eating everything in sight. Often, couples who break up go through one or more of the above and may even turn to others of the opposite sex who might fill the void.

But in order to get through rejection with as much dignity as possible, it should be faced so you can move on. Some people even find that throwing a fit helps as it gets the anger and ugliness (that can fester and malign normal progress) out into the open.

When dating, rejection is bound to take place at some point or another – it is thus important to learn how to deal with rejection. It could be a negative reply to an invitation to take a friendship to the next level, or it could happen later in a relationship when commitment has already taken place. While the hurt of either of these degrees of rejection will be different, both need to be faced head on. And it’s okay to indulge in some comfort food as a small indulgence for our mental / intellectual bruise.
