Some of the communications are personal, others professional. Communication is the exchange of thoughts and ideas and we use it for various purposes. Communication is used to convey information, gather information and to persuade others.

A major barrier to effective communication is the muddled or mixed message. Sometimes, we are not sure we understand what is being said or conveyed. While these safety practices are needed to protect the workers and the businesses, they make communication difficult sometimes. One way to overcome this is to acknowledge the necessity of the measures. When you approach a window that is closed off, speak loudly enough to be heard. Also, if you don’t understand the response, ask the individual to repeat it.
